Today he finished the sixth round of pronation. Usually, these types of patients (with pneumonia) have improvements in pronation while he does not; however, it is also true that when they supinate it, there is no deterioration.
It's been 7 days since the last CT scan and so today he'll have another one on the lung. Then we will wait for the radiologist to report it and tell us.
For the moment it is stable. He just had a little low-grade fever.
Today we requested clarifications for the history of the maximum eight cycles and they explained that the tube that now passes from the mouth and crosses the vocal cords to get to the trachea, in the long run can create various inconveniences (to the vocal cords, the trachea, etc. ) arrived at 14 days.
After these 14 days a tracheotomy will be evaluated.

Today from the respiratory point of view it is stable, therefore not good. From the CT scan it got worse
Unfortunately, however, there are new germs in the urine and bronchial secretions, typical of these hospital environments.
Powerful antibiotic therapies are needed to treat these germs, and these treatments will begin today. He's also undergoing cortisone therapy.
The heart, kidneys and liver function well. The lungs don't!
Today they ask us for recent medical reports on his lungs ... they say they can't see anything on the computer. Now we will look for them but I doubt we have anything at home.
The head physician said to go on with the pronation cycles, a little over eight because he saw that some have gained even if "late" ... in short, in extremis.

New germs have emerged from blood cultures, so they are stepping up antibiotic therapy. There is a germ in the blood and they tell us that this is not a positive fact
also because some germs have an important resistance to most antibiotics.
Tomorrow the various catheters will change (central venous, bladder and others) because they could also be contaminated.
The bladder one they use to measure urine.
Today they told us that pronato gains in oxygenation and will remain like this from 1pm until tomorrow morning, for 18 hours.
It has a lot of secretions.
Today is the ninth day in intensive care. We are told that the average hospital stay is three weeks.

Today we are told that it was basically stable.
They had to supinate him for a while and his breathing got worse (despite being ventilated by the machine). When they do it again it starts to improve again. Small steps forward ...
Obviously the goal is not to have to turn it anymore and keep it only belly up.
Heart, liver and kidneys are functioning properly.
At the moment he is still in a medically induced coma, paralyzed. The car does everything, the fan.

Today is the ninth round of pronation and for the moment he is lying on his back, then on his stomach and is doing fairly well.
He is breathing a little by himself with the help of the ventilator. They tell us that it is not a step forward but, for the moment, it is only a verification.

Today they confirm that they have lightened the sedation and therefore there is some spontaneous breathing. Today he is awake
they explained to him where he is, he was initially agitated but then calmed down.
Good breathing exchanges
we hope it continues like this.
Finally some good news !!

Good and stable respiratory exchanges.
I am a bit in doubt about extubation because it has many secretions and does not tend to cough.
The program is to see that you wake up well and to cough, thus strengthening the respiratory muscles.
To date he has been intubated for 13 days, therefore an important number of days.
Collaborate, open your eyes on command. If no one stimulates him, he rests but this is a bit normal due to the drugs he has in his circulation.

Today we are told that the strength is medium, weak cough and to be encouraged a lot.
They decided to extubate him !! Yeah
This is a somewhat delicate phase. For the moment he is using c-pap (continuous positive pressure mechanical ventilation) which helps him keep his lungs wide open.
For the moment they are giving him high toses cortisone and a diuretic to remove water from his lungs. And with today he will also suspend the antibiotic.
He is calm, he is a little afraid but they are explaining to him how things are going. He had a little crying fit.

They tell us it's a bit uncooperative. He gets really encouraged to cough. They decided to give him an antidepressant.
However, the situation is difficult, it is a trauma.
Blood gas (Blood gas analysis) good.

He did a bronchospy to suck out the secretions. To avoid continuing to bronchoscopy, they gave him a mini-track (tube slightly below his Adam's apple), a small wound in his neck, to suck up secretions.
They're downsizing cortisone therapy. He has no fever.
We're not out of the woods yet. Enough c-pap helmet, it is ventilated only with high flows, so a mask.
He doesn't want to make video calls yet, so as not to worry us.
Today a doctor answered the phone, very empathetic and kind, as well as - obviously - very competent. We always want to hear from him giving us good news.
He's drinking alone, so his muscles are regaining tone too.
